READ FULL POST - OVERLOOK HURRICANES CODE OF CONDUCT

    Parents & Swimmers,

I'd like to take a few minutes to remind all of our swimmers and parents that our coaches are volunteers.  They volunteer a significant amount of time to summer swim team because they love swimming and want to help the swimmers in Overlook become stronger and more proficient over the course of the season.

With that being said, it is NEVER okay for a parent or swimmer to yell at our coaches.  At a minimum, we expect all members of the Overlook Hurricanes family (coaches, parents, swimmers, etc.) to act with grace, courtesy and respect.  We all need to realize that anything less is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

In addition, it is NEVER okay for our swimmers to display any of the following conduct at our pool or at a neighboring pool during practice or a swim meet:

    • Roughhousing (e.g. hitting, pushing, kicking, etc.)
    • Pushing other kids in the pool (competition pool or baby pool)
    • Behaving in a unsportsmanlike manner (e.g. name calling, berating or belittling opposing team's swimmers, etc.)

If there is an incident, the following steps will be taken:

    • The swimmer and parent(s) will be asked to leave the meet or practice (if the first incident is severe, the swimmer will be removed from the team).
    • If a repeat incident occurs the swimmer will be removed from the team.

The Overlook Hurricanes is a summer swim team with a goal of being fun while creating a love of swimming. It's an experience that's rewarding for the kids and parents.  Summer swim team is something many look forward to each year and we all need to remember that kindness costs you nothing.

Please remember that our coaching and management staff is here because we want to give our time and energy to our community.  It is important that parents and swimmers recognize this commitment and behave accordingly.
